At the intersection of the four buildings is the historical vagrants’ farm. The farm was built after the Belgian state took over the two colonies in 1870. Different wings open onto a courtyard. The vagrants’ farm is property of the non-profit Kempens Landschap. This organisation ensured that the different wings were restored and given a new function. The farm is not a protected monument; however, it is located in the protected landscape of Wortel Colony. The vagrants’ farm is a good starting point for visiting Wortel Colony. Several walking routes begin at the farm.
