From node to node
Colony 5-7 is included in the network of cycling routes. Signs point the way to the nearest node. This way, you don’t have to remember complicated routes; just follow the sequence of nodes. Design your own route on the website www.fietsnet.be. The closest node to visitor centre Colony 5-7 in Merksplas is no. 30. The closest node to the farm in Wortel is no. 99. At the counter of the brasserie Veldkeuken, you can purchase the cycling map ‘Antwerpse Kempen’.
Vagrants’ route
Would you like to follow a substantial cycling route that will take you to the most scenic spots of Colony 5-7? Then follow the vagrants’ route. Start at the Landloperskapel at Kapelstraat and follow the white hexagonal signs. The total trip is 57 km long and also takes you through the centre of Hoogstraten, Merksplas and Turnhout. Mountain bike
There are two signposted loops designed specially for mountain bikes that can be combined if desired. The routes are indicated by signs with coloured triangles. The green route is 21.6 km long and starts from the Casino of Wortel Colony, located at the intersection of the four buildings.
The red route is 28.7km long and starts from the sports hall in Merksplas.
